I started life as a guitarist who became fascinated with audio recording and songwriting, I tried the big rockstar route back in the days before the internet, when you had to win the hearts of A&R guys at the record companies.
I failed to win them over.
Some would say it’s because my songs weren’t good enough. Others would say it was because I had a face made for radio. Still others would say it was both.
Never the less, I persevered in life and settled down to raise a family. But I never stopped writing and I recorded when I had the opportunity. It was sporadic, as more children were born and they were always my first priority. But when I could, I’d work on ideas ans store things away.
Eventually, the kids all got old enough that they wanted nothing to do with their parents and I found myself with much more free time.
So began the making of this record. The title is a combination of retrospective and anthology, though it may also describe a complex medical procedure that involves no anesthesia and a rather long probe.
Almost everything you hear is done by me, except the vocals.
When I sing, angels send threatening letters. So I leave that to others.
There are 13 session vocalists on this record, 9 lead and 4 who added harmonies. I can’t list them all (due to limits placed by the vocalists) but if you hear someone you like that you’d like to work with, contact me and I’ll put you in touch. All was recorded in my little studio at home, usually while watching reruns of Kojak or Pursuit of Jade.
